Braintree, Mass., May 11, 2016 – Summit Healthcare announced today that Doctors Community Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in Lanham, MD, has chosen the Summit Express Connect interface engine to improve integration efficiencies. The interface engine, along with Summit Healthcare’s migration services, will enable the hospital to easily integrate data from clinical systems into the electronic health record (EHR) platform. All connections will now be managed through Summit Express Connect, eliminating the need for multiple point-to-point interfaces which are costly and time consuming to maintain.

“Our point-to-point integration approach was proving too costly and difficult to manage,” said Alan Johnson, Chief Information Officer, Doctors Community Hospital. “With Summit Express Connect, we’ll eliminate the expense of paying for each point-to-point connection and we will be able to monitor all our interfaces from one dashboard. Summit Healthcare’s proven track record and the advanced features their solutions offer made Summit Express Connect the obvious choice.”

Previously, the hospital maintained distinct interfaces between each clinical system and the EHR platform. Connecting new clinical systems meant engaging a vendor to add that connection. An increasing number of integrations across multiple systems at both the main campus and satellite locations resulted in rapidly increasing costs and high demands on internal teams. With Summit Express Connect, Doctors Community Hospital will be able to quickly set up new integration points utilizing existing data feeds.

The solution will enable Doctors Community Hospital to leverage existing interfaces, speeding deployment and allowing staff to focus on other projects. These efficiencies will be essential to the success of the hospitals upcoming Curaspan care transition system implementation. The hospital anticipates saving more than $10,000 on that project by using existing data feeds rather than purchasing additional interfaces.

“Organizations like Doctors Community Hospital have tremendous efficiencies and cost savings to be gained by deploying a centralized interface strategy,” said Ted Rossi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Summit Healthcare. “In addition to immediate savings on interface fees and management, they are also laying a foundation for future interoperability initiatives which will support much greater flexibility and faster implementation.”
