Community Hospital Adopts Innovative New Products to Enhance Care Coordination
Braintree, Mass., September 20, 2018 – Summit Healthcare, a leader in healthcare integration and automation solutions, has announced an enhanced partnership with Cottage Hospital. Cottage Hospital has been a long-time interface engine customer of Summit’s and has recently decided to expand their interoperability strategy by utilizing Summit Healthcare’s more advanced solutions.
Located in Woodsville, NH, Cottage Hospital has been serving the residents of Upper Connecticut Valley for 110 years. It is a 35-bed critical access hospital that has been well recognized over the years for providing exemplary care. Its staff of just over 250 employees provides low-cost, high-quality health care by staying up-to-date with the latest industry initiatives and technology solutions. It is currently utilizing anthenahealth as its EMR.
Cottage Hospital made the decision to upgrade to the Summit Exchange Platform from Express Connect, enabling continued leverage of the interface engine technology, while benefitting from the enhancements of Summit’s latest technology. Summit Exchange will provide more insight over the HL7 interface environment with the ability to create interface connections as needed, and with inherent diagnostic monitoring capabilities which was designed to make troubleshooting less taxing for the analyst. This will also allow Cottage Hospital to better meet the needs of an acute care environment by reducing the time to complete integration projects, as well as offering more control over their interfaces.
In order to further promote interoperability, Cottage Hospital also selected Summit’s Provider Access solution to enhance care coordination with community-based providers, sharing hospital event specific information on its patients through a web-based platform.

This will allow our facility to complete the paperless transition for transmission of ePHI to non-employed providers.”
Cottage Hospital is in a rural area, and there are four provider offices in their community that do not have an EMR technology in place. By utilizing Provider Access, Cottage Hospital is able to quickly and securely share pertinent documentation and patient data with these physician offices. Through a 1-click sign up, the physician office is then able to add orders and view test results for a specific patient through a secure link. There is no delay in getting providers patient information, which facilitates proactive outreach and improved care coordination.

Information sharing can also be combined with notifications for providers who want to be updated regularly on patient events as they happen. Built-in auditing of user events mitigates any security risks.
